FVH Stamps

In the same big block as the Dominion Building but on the opposite corner in the basement of what I think is called The Mercantile Building sits one of my favourite neighbourhood enterprises.

Sorry, tangent: One thing that is fascinating about that block is that the house/building street numbers span more than 0-99 that is the norm. For example, the Dominion Building is at 207 West Hastings, while Amsterdam Cafe a mere two or three storefronts to the west, is at…

Mint Records History: Room 701, Part 4

This photo was taken in Grant’s office on the 7th floor: Lookout Records’ then head honcho, Larry Livermore, and members of Lookout band, The Hi-Fives, plus Nick of The Smugglers, and Grant on crutches and holding a copy of MRR, no doubt for some very important reason that I no longer can remember.

Close-up of Grant's oak desk, with various stickers he attached, plus some Shena added, 'cause she uses this desk now!

The Dominion Building manager was still the aforementioned Bonnie Tegart, who had her office on the fourth floor on the east side, with a clear view of the staircase and elevators. I think it was Bonnie who thought of the idea of making a large collage of photos of the Dominion Building taken from the time…

1992 Discorder ad for the Tankhog 7" release party…. We had no photos of us in rooms 806-807 so we thought this might work in a pinch…..

Our setup in Room 606 was the two metal CiTR desks side by side along the north wall, and the filing cabinets along the south wall. Between the two desks was a laser printer, a fax machine and one single line phone. And on each desk was a Mac,…
