Bite Down

To be Anishinaabe is to move through the world in respect and reciprocity, taking what you need and giving back whenever you can, while always acknowledging the gift that is the journey itself. It’s a way of life that was interrupted and severely damaged by the ravages of settler colonialism.

Ribbon Skirt

Led by Anishinaabe musician Tashiina Buswa, Ribbon Skirt are a band from Montreal. With a captivating live show, they have played festivals across Canada and the US including SXSW, New Colossus, Sled Island, Sappyfest, Flourish and Pop Montreal, and shared stages with Dehd, Ombiigizi, Packs, Chad VanGaalen and Enumclaw. Their debut album Bite Down brings a darker and more introspective sound, dealing with themes of memory, grief and Buswa’s connection to her Indigenous identity and cultural practices.
