Shiny New Old Songs

With a career spanning two decades, eight full-length albums, and thousands of shows across North America, South America, and Europe, The Pack a.d.singer/guitarist Becky Black and drummer Maya Millerhave crafted a sound so fierce, raw, and empowering that it’s easy to forget there are just two people behind this brilliant, carefully constructed havoc.

Formed in 2007, the band got their first break with Mint Records, sealing a three-album deal over a bottle of Jack Daniels. Now, eighteen years later, the band and the label are teaming up once again to release Shiny New Old Songs

The album was originally intended as a 7” EP of unreleased B-sides from The Pack’s 2011 album Unpersons–the breakthrough record that cemented The Pack a.d.’s unique sound that blends blues, punk and garage rock. But as the band dug through their archives, they discovered more previously unreleased tracks that they wanted to share.

They enlisted their longtime mastering engineer Stu McKillop of Raincity Recorders to give these shiny new old songs their final polish, transforming the EP into an eight song digital album.

This is how collaborations between The Pack a.d. and Mint have always worked–with one part inspiration, one part excitement, and all the other parts, heart. The band and the label have loved looking back at the songs on Shiny New Old and reflecting on the collaborative spirit and partnership between them, which might best be summarized by a line from The Pack song, “Give Up”: You may feel leftover, but you’ll always make my team.

A very limited run of Unpersons: (Shiny) New Old Songs 7” will be available on September 26, 2025.

Shiny New Old Songs will be out on streaming platforms on September 26, 2025.
