Summer is nearly here, and we’re about to make it a whole lot better with the newest addition to the Mint roster: Heaven For Real!
Hailing all the way from Halifax, Heaven For Real have spent the past two years crafting their distinct and intricate sound. Part of this sound comes from band members’ experiences in various other projects that have made waves in Canada’s independent music landscape. Heaven For Real’s songwriters (and fraternal twin brothers) Mark and Scott Grundy play in Quaker Parents and Monomyth, while its rhythmic forces Cheryl Hann and Nathan Doucet have spent time playing with Old and Weird and Crosss, respectively.
With their first Mint release, Kill Your Memory, Heaven For Real are poised to make their own imprint on the Canadian music landscape. Incorporating the adventurousness of jazz and nervous post-punk energy with poetic lyrical narratives, Kill Your Memory offers a true blend of experimental rock n’ roll. Catchy hooks battle with dissonant tones and unconventional sounds, while lyrics bounce between both the playful and somber moments that animate life.
This album is one you don’t want to miss. But don’t just take our word for it - you can hear the first single, “Subliminal” over on Stereogum now! The LP and digital versions will be available July 15, but you can pre-order it here now!
