Rate: 20 hours/week at $24/hr

Work Term: July 15 to September 6 

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada 

We're looking for a new Record Label Assistant (Mintern) here at Mint Records! Join our team and get to work with some of the most exciting bands in Canada! 

Mint Records is a Vancouver based independent record label with a rich 30 year history of groundbreaking releases and a dedication to supporting emerging talent from the Canadian music community. Over the years, Mint has worked on many successful and award winning albums from artists such as The New Pornographers, The Organ, The Pack a.d., Sook-Yin Lee, Vivek Shraya, Peach Kelli Pop, Kiwi jr., Dumb and more.

The Role:

We’re hiring a Record Label Assistant to tackle a variety of projects, many that contribute to promoting upcoming albums, shows, and tours. It’s not 100% glamorous, but there are several perks to Minterning. Minterns will make interesting new friends. Minterns will probably be sent to a show or two. Minterns will sample a release or two before they hit the streets. Everyone wins. This is a terrific opportunity for someone to learn about the complexities of Canada’s music industry.

The position is part-time and will require a hybrid of in-person and remote work in Vancouver, as well as some out-of-office-hours activity, such as attendance at shows, and delivering mail orders to the post office. 

 Responsibilities:

  • Assist with aspects of record label functions, including marketing, distribution, publicity, and radio promotion across multiple artists and projects
  • Help communicate with label staff, third party team members, and artists about project status and provide them access to information and resources (e.g. digital content, listening links, marketing assets, images, text) 
  • Participate in project meetings with team members and artists, and a weekly team meeting for Mint Records staff 
  • Carry out tasks within specific release campaigns, such as:
    • Keep label social media fresh and engaging, creating and scheduling posts across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok etc. 
    • Help update company website and artist pages on mintrecs.com 
    • Set up record releases for digital and physical distribution 
    • Update artist profiles on company website, Bandcamp, and DSPs 
    • Assist with merch, setup, and promotion of local shows 
    • Assist with fulfilling mail order, counting, and updating inventory for physical sales 
    • Assist with quality control of audio and listening to masters 

Qualifications

  • Organized, passionate and positive-minded
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • An interest in the music industry and the independent music landscape
  • Some familiarity with Google Drive, Zoom video conferencing, and image editing in Canva or Photoshop preferred
  • A strong willingness to learn, active listening skills, and a familiarity and interest in Mint’s roster and back catalogue
  • A background in music and independent music is a bonus 
  • A laptop can be provided if needed 

Compensation: $24/hour
